BELGRADE, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarovic said on Wednesday that Serbia is seeking opportunities for cooperation with China, particularly in green and digital sectors.
The minister made the remarks at an economic and trade forum co-hosted with China's Jiangsu Province in Belgrade. The event attracted over 400 participants and more than 240 companies from both countries.
At the forum, Mesarovic hailed Serbia's cooperation with Jiangsu, saying the partnership held particular significance as it connects Serbia's orientation towards innovation and sustainable development with China's experience in industrial transformation, digitalization and green economy. Serbia is seeking opportunities for cooperation in green and digital sectors, Mesarovic added.
In addition to Jiangsu-based firms that have operated in several Serbian cities, including Novi Sad, Nis, and Ruma, Mesarovic said Serbia is in talks with major investors from the province and will prioritize attracting companies planning to open production facilities in the country.
Jiangsu offers tremendous potential for cooperation, thanks to its substantial population, strong economic performance, and leadership in innovation and the digital economy, she noted.
She further stressed the importance of implementing the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and China, which she said has already enabled Serbian exporters, especially in the food sector, to access the Chinese market. ■
